Montecatini also works to help the family get the care they need, too.

In addition to bi-weekly family therapy sessions, our monthly family intensive weekend provides support and education to family members of our patients within the program.

Family involvement is essential to the successful outcome of treatment with adolescents. It is our hope that these weekends will enhance communication within the family system as well as increase empathy for those with eating disorders and the struggles their loved ones endure.

Therapeutic passes with family members may be granted to those who are eligible. A typical family weekend schedule is as follows:

Friday

9:00 – 10:30 What Causes Eating Disorders: Why Did This Happen to My Daughter?
10:30 – 11:00 Break/Snack
11:00 – 12:00 Treatment of Eating Disorders: Factors of Influence and Levels of Care
12:00 – 12:30 Lunch Preparation (TBA)
12:30 – 1:30 Buffet Lunch/Families and Patients
1:30 – 3:30 Nutrition Education: Concepts, Components and Meal Support
3:30 – 4:00 Snack
4:00 – 5:30 Multifamily Group
5:30 – 6:45 Therapeutic Passes

9:00 – 10:00 Developmental, Psychiatric and Medical Issues of Eating Disorder Patients
10:00 – 10:30 Is My Loved One “Normal”?: This is an opportunity for you to ask questions of other patients without your loved one present

11:00 – 12:15 Men’s Group/Women’s Group: (For Family Members Only)
